Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio said that its investment cycle is now over with mobility coverage reaching 99% of India’s population.

Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio said that its investment cycle is now over with mobility coverage reaching 99% of India’s population.
In a statement, Jio said that its VoLTE network has seen yearly growth of 52% in daily voice traffic and is extending its lead over legacy 2G/3G voice networks in India.

There has been a recent spat between Jio on one hand and older incumbents such as Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea on the other hand since the former wanted to abolish Interconnection Usage Charge (IUC), a fee paid to recipient operator by a call originator network

The Mumbai-based telco had launched commercial mobile services in September 2016 and advocated phasing out 2G-3G networks enabling India's digital roadmap with futuristic technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence.

The service provider has said that it has witnessed more than a three-fold increase in voice and data traffic on its network, over the past two years.

"Jio continues to be by far the industry leader in terms of network capacity and performance," the company's statement added.

The telco has added 24 million subscribers in Q2, 2019-20 to reach a total of 355.2 million.

The greenfield 4G operator has said that its network design with real-time data aggregation, business workflow engines and predictive analytics led to better planning, higher efficiency and lower costs. The company said that its extensive fiber backhaul is supporting higher throughput and better customer experience for its 4G subscribers.

The telco had recently announced Jio Phone Diwali 2019 plan – marketed by Reliance Retail—offering the device at Rs 699 without an exchange of old device.

Jio said that it has witnessed a strong response in the first few weeks. “Jio is committed to ensure that no Indian is deprived of affordable Internet and fruits of the Digital Revolution,” the company said.
